I still can't get over the fact that artist are so ill prepared today and i mean that in the bad sense. As an artist you have to understand that you are part salesperson, even if you have a staff that does that. You must frequently sell your product, concepts, ideas, music, movement, and style. I am giving you some free advice here. Unless you have hired someone or the label that you are signed to has someone working your project (be very weary), no one is here to serve you or make your life easier. When you do radio, please understand it is something to further you. The station, host, producer etc.is not there to edit your music or cater to you. This aint Destiny's Child. Come correct or don't come at all. Be prepared with radio edited material because you never know where your songs will get played. Find out what the format of the show is that you have an interview with. Do they play explicit material or should you have radio edits ready before you get to the station. Confirm your interview the day before at the latest or if really pressed for time, 10 hours before your scheduled time. 2 hours before, 1 hour before is not going to cut it. If it was me, i would cancel your interview if you are doing that because at that moment you are cutting into valuable show prep time. The host/producers of the radio show are concerned about having their format right and content ready so that they can have a good show. No one wants to be bothered close to show time about your unconfirmed interview. Also, when you do confirm in advance, know exactly where you are going, ask questions, find out details because once again no one has time to be concerned about you not being able to find the studio especially when they are on air doing a program. You should take the iniative to get all of this in order or have someone do it for you but get it done in advance. Lastly, arrive to the interview early so any unforeseen problems can get worked out. It's crazy that I have to relay this stuff but some of you just don't know. It's time to start knowing.
