Zoe Saldana series "My Hero" debuts this fall in Oct

AOL has unveiled its new slate of original programming and on the list is a new series from
actress Zoe Saldana set to debut on Oct 24 for the fall lineup. Called My Hero, the short-form
web series follows different celebrities in every episode as they pay a surprise visit to someone
who helped change their lives. The series is produced by Relativity Media's Ellen Rakieten
Entertainment and Cinestar Productions.

"There's at least one person in everyone's life that they will always be grateful to," Saldana
tells THR. "We wanted to create a show in celebration of those people." This isn't Saldana's
first time behind the camera. She directed a web series with her sister Cisely Saldana called
The Ropes, starring Vin Diesel, in 2011 and a short film starring Malin Ackerman and Bradley
Cooper called Kaylien. But she notes that AOL was a logical partner for My Hero.

"Partnering with AOL was the best thing for us," she says. "It's a company that's setting the
tone on how we view and interpret media." Saldana will also star in an episode of My Hero
in which she pays tribute to her mother, whom she calls "my No. 1 fan and my partner in crime."
She adds that she hopes the series will "inspire people to be thankful for the people around them
that had something to do with the great things happening in their lives."
